I stopped in the other day and picked up a couple of ammo cans. It was okay at best. Very small, two guys in there and the owner didnt even take to the time to say hi even though he was sitting at the front counter. I told the other guy I was looking for a 9mm decapp/resize die and couldnt find one anywhere, he said, "oh I have one in the parts bin in back"...I said ok can we check it out? He said "No I dont have time to dig through that right now" I said I would be happy to look myself, he just giggled like he thought I was kidding.
I also noticed they had a sign in the window about CCW classes so I asked about it(like I always do) and he said it is a 4 hour class for $85 "more than qualifies for Colorado laws and way more than you will ever need to know"...... Really, more than I will ever need to know about carrying a gun in just 4 hours...wow they must be awesome.
Overall, I give them a 3 out of 10. Considering you are a brand new shop in town you should probably be willing to help the customers a little more.
Stopped in today. Was greeted by the guy behind the counter in a friendly manner when I walked in. Looks like all the guns are used. The ammo looked old. Boxes were worn on the edges. Prices of ammo were absurd. 12guage value pack of 100 rounds in 8 shot was $58 or higher. I didn't look too close as I was laughing too much in my head. The whole place reminded me of a flea market booth, not a real gun shop. I give them 9 months tops.
Disclaimer: I am pretty respectful of other shops generally and try to keep my opinions to myself publicly because Karma is a bitch, but.......
I was out and about with the wife and kid today and he wanted to stop in a business in the same shopette. I figured I would stop in seeing how they have a "Gunsmithing" sign up. I stroll in and was greeted by a gent behind the counter in a cordial manner and he asked if I was looking for anything in particular. "Not really, just poking around a bit". The three other guys behind the counter didn't say boo. So I see a couple of items and was curious on pricing, a Ruger Old Army blackpowder revolver with fixed sights and a decent condition(from 5' away) post 64 Winney model 94. $600.00+ for the Ruger and $800.00 for the Winney! Fer Chrissakes! After that I didn't bother paying attention to firearm prices, figured they were too damn high and a bunch of rough rifles on the rack. So I start looking at accessories and holy cow! Uncle Mikes neoprene pocket holsters that can be had for $10.00-15.00 at Wally World and such for $19.95 + tax, beat and filthy ammo cans for $15.00, rifle socks that you can get in a 3 pack for nine bucks anyplace else they sell individually for $5.95 + tax.
Whatever, typical high prices.

I walk out to see if the kid is done at his store (he isn't) and I go DOH! I forgot to feel out the Gunsmithing!
I go back in and tell the gent who greeted me that I almost forgot to ask,"How much to thread a 700 in 308 for a ThunderBeast." "A what?" was his reply. Just then an older guy in a shop apron (obviously the "Smith") who almost sounded like he drank his lunch comes out from the back.
He "What is you want?"
Me-"I would like to know how much to thread a 700 in .308 for a ThunderBeast."
He- "What's a ThunderBeast?"
Me- "Its a suppressor"
He- "I can't do that, were not a Class III shop, do you have the suppressor?"
Me- "No, I have the paperwork in and I am waiting for the approval"
He- "What size threads, 1/2 x 28?"
Fuck me, this cat is clueless so I am going to play along.........
Me- "Hmmm, I'm not sure but they said that they are class 3 threads."(thread "fit" is defined in "Classes", 1 being a sloppy fit and 3 being aviation/ aerospace type of fit with very near zero play in the threads, anybody turning threads had damn well better know their thread fit classes)
He- "I told you, we aren't a Class III shop, we can't have a Class III gun in here. But if you pull the barrel and just bring me the barrel I might be able to thread it, how long is it?"
Me- "I think it is 22 inches but it might be shorter than that."
He- "Well, I will have to see it, if it is too short I can't thread it." (really? I have threaded barrels all the way down to a 2" on a J frame)
Me- "Well, how would I pull the barrel?"
He- "What kind of gun is it?"
Me- "A 700 in .308."
He- "I don't know what a 700 is."
WTF?
Me- "A Remington 700 in .308."
He- "You can't have a Class III Remington 700."
Me- "Well, in that case I just might have to put a Sparrow (22 LR suppressor) muzzle brake on it instead."
He- "Yeah, those are good brakes."
Me- "I heard they work well too, how much to thread it for that?"
He- "$125.00"
Between way high priced firearms and accessories that should send you scurrying for cover alone.
But the lack of knowledge of product and regulations from their "Smith" on an inquiry for a relatively simple job is scary and honestly IMO, quite dangerous to the shop and their customers (not to mention a pretty high price quoted).
The fact that I purposely fed him bullshit and he swallowed it on a silver spoon is very disturbing.
