My new M1
I have always been a bolt gun guy, then I got into the gas guns, I am now an M1 guy. My folks found this for me for Christmas, and I finally got to take it out today. It was by far the most fun I have had at the range in a long time. The day was cold, snowy, and very windy but that made no never mind the first time I pulled the trigger on this piece of history. Now to hone the skills and get back in touch with some open sights and maybe start looking at some Garand matches.

Nice rifle. That was my very first rifle, still have it. Is it still 30-06 or has someone converted it to .308?
-
It is a Springfield. It's still 30-06. Serial # says it was built in 1956

Very nice sir. It's on my "to own" list.

Nice rifle! My brother loves his. It's one of many on my "to own" list as well.

Nice, congrats! I have a '43 Springfield I bought from a feller here. I've had all the metal refinished, put a new stock set on it, recon'd gas cylinder, and it's good-lookin' fine shootin' sumbitch! I love that rifle!

An M1 Garand was as issued to me at the start of basic training back in 1955. I'd like to do some trading for another Garand as it has been my favorite ever since! [blaster]

Outstanding! I love my CMP Garand that I got last year. GREAT shooter! I firmly believe that everyone should have at least one.

First off your parents are cool as hell! Second congrats on the sweet looking M1! Third watch those thumbs [Beer]

Nice looking rifle (although the second pic is tiny). Looks like a beech buttstock and walnut rear handguard. Any more details on it?
