I bullet-hose the bulk stuff, and have been living off massive scores of Rem. Golden Bullet and Federal Brown Box. My favorite bulk box is what I can find inexpensively, which means I haven't bought any 22 since the ammo panic started. I scored about 30,000 rounds of the federal bulk from Cabelas during a good sale in 2011 at 3.1 cents a round, though I sold most of that off in 2013.
I'm still waiting for good pricing and availability for bulk to return before I'll stock up again. Got nothing to offer on match loads for you, sorry.
What kind of shooting are you doing, competition, plinking etc? Bulk packs / what ever we find is what we shoot. Been hoarding 22 as other factory ammo since the early 2K's Some of it still has Long's Drug $1.25 stickers on it.
Eley, Lapua, SK, Wolf and the like have their place if your interest is precision shooting. I shoot 10 rounds of Eley for every round of bulk blaster. Good stuff is not hard to find, but it is expensive. I've had good luck with Eley Target on the cheap end. It'll shoot into 1 moa in my Savage FV. If you spend more, you'll likely get better results, though there is no guarantee.
What is this mythical .22LR you speak of?
I like plain old CCI Blazers. It was relatively cheap and feeds reliably in every .22 I own. Good thing I had a good supply before this craziness hit. Never tried any match ammo since I don't shoot for groups when plinking. Of course at today's prices I guess I'd opt for match ammo if I were desperate enough to buy .22LR since the price is all basically the same whether you're buying bulk or match.
For blasting ammo, whatever I find, for more precision work, I shoot Eley Edge in my Savage FVSR. It's spendy but is extremely accurate in that little rifle.
The cheap stuff, never more than $0.06. It is plentiful again. Every Wallyworld has it day of the week. I just plink in the forest.
While I don't much like it, I try to shoot Remington Golden Bullets in practice/plinking because it was cheap and has some duds, but I won't shoot it in a match. Winchester M22 is one of my favorites. I tried the match stuff, and frankly, I can get between 1 and 1.5 MOA at 100 yards with most bulk stuff so the match stuff is just added $ since I am not shooting Olympic style or going sub 1/2 MOA.
I've used match grade ammo and regular OTC ammo when shooting NRA Sectionals. A lot depends on what kind of shooter you are. If you're a competition level shooter, using match grade may make the difference between getting a 10 and getting an X -- and that's important. The match grade stuff typically has a bit tighter consistency and that's everything when you're looking to shoot over 1590 out of 1600 points and counting X's. While I was pretty good, CCI Blazer or even Remington green box were good enough for me. Today, I'd use Blazer, Federal or Aguila. If I thought I was in competition for a medal at Camp Perry, I'd probably go ahead and pay the squeeze to get Eley.
