interesting. I'm sure there is a pretty big market for something like this.
I would need to read a lot more of the tech data... How do they ensure secure calls and data? Is everything set up like a FTP? What sort of encryption? What type of encoding?
Is this like that app that promised to be secure and discreet, only to have everyone find out that all the pictures were kept on a cloud server?
I'm assuming that you'd have to be communicating with another black phone owner in order for the encryption to actually work. I don't know much about this stuff but it wouldn't make sense that I can send a text email or phone call to someone on Verizon's network and have it encrypted unless they have the ability to decrypt it on their end.Quote:

I dunno on that one. Good question. The interview with the company owner was interesting. He said the Blackphone was first introduced in Europe and pretty popular there as there is a greater understanding of privacy. I didn't know that. I think he said Switzerland (?) has laws specifically preventing cell tracking. He said it was only introduced here recently as the concern for NSA tracking has brought the privacy issue mainstream. Currently, the biggest purchasers are very senior corporate execs, politicians and govt officials. Last two don't surprise me very much. I dunno... $620 for the phone plus service seems high to me. I think you're better off buying a prepaid phone, using up the minutes, then tossing it and buying another.
