Help rehoming X's dog

I put off the last part of my divorce and need to address it this month. My X left her dog with me, and refuses to take responsibility. Unfortunately, I am unable to keep her any longer because of the long hours I am away the weeks that I have my son; My X's kids are no longer at the house to take care of her after school. My GSD follows the rules and uses the dog door; an overall awesome dog. The Husky on the other hand either needs to be outside or kenneled if I am gone, and I can't/won't leave my 10 year old GSD outside on the cold single/double digit days. I tried to solved the problem with a large dog run, but they won't use the chicken coop I converted to a dog house in a fenced area so I am left with few options at this point. I need to find a new home for her; I am rather frustrated that my X won't take responsibility for her dog, but that is what it is.



The Siberian Husky's name is Shadow. She is five, and she is extremely healthy.


The Good:

1. Kennel trained
2. Non-aggressive beta dog (thrives being a subordinate pack dog)
3. Good with other dogs
4. Good with kids (although very shy)
5. She doesn't make any noise unless she is playing
6. She is an amazingly healthy sled dog. I never submitted her papers; I might be able to find them.

The Bad:

1. She can't be in the house unsupervised. She will tear things apart if left alone, and she will defecate on the floor. She knows how to use the dog door and will use it if I am around, but will cause as many problems as possible when I leave.
2. She is very shy. She only gets close to a very few people. I am a little nervous that she won't be adopted because of this.
3. She is relatively untrained; typical Husky issues. The only thing my X taught her was how to talk and make noise if you play with her.

Shadow needs to be an outdoor dog that is brought in to visit on occasion. The best fit would be somebody with land to run and other dogs. She is very content when she is part of a pack, and does not do well if she is left alone.



If you know somebody, or you can recommend a place to take her; that would be great.
