Car audio help

Background: I was 16 and put a ghetto flea market 12" subwoofer into my car. I loved the bass and put it into my little ranger I had. I finally had a little more money and was told to buy a good 10" and port the box. I now have all old components lying around my garage and want to put them into my f150.

1. What is the cheapest way to REPLACE a factory subwoofer? My wife is watching my spending on a new truck, and is already pissed I bought a tuner. Can I scrounge together $50 and get something put together and make it decent? or am I SOL for a while?

2. out of the 4 components, what would work best together for my application?

I HAVE NEVER DONE AUDIO WORK, but I know how to use wire strippers, vampire clamps, and how to run power/ground/remote wire for an amp. Again, thinking high school teenager wants to replace a factory subwoofer (we are all children at hearts or mind). Thanks!

Best way to replace a factory subwoofer? Buy one from me! I'll sell you this gentlly used woofer with a built in amp for $50+shipping. I had it under the back seat of my silverado for a year before I sold it and it's been sitting in a plastic bag in my garage since last Jan. Kicks a lot because of the low profile enclosure. Conveniently fits under or behind your seats. Just needs a power kit to hook up to your battery. PM me if interested. [Beer]

Depends on your skills, I completely ditched every stitch of the factory system in my truck, but could be done reasonably while retaining the factory stuff. Honestly though if you aren't upgrading the speakers in the rest of the truck all you're going to do is overpower them with a good sub.

I've found that with correct dampening of the floor under the carpet a down firing sub, ported out the front can be extremely effective without going too crazy. Basically this is what JL did with the stealth boxes.

But to your direct question, make a good box that fits for that 10 W3 you have, and use an adapter kit from Best Buy or Crutchfield for your input to the amp.

If I had the money, the first thing I would do, is install a new Head unit.... that makes the stock speakers sound better, rather than limiting newer better components.

All I am trying to accomplish is a little more bass. The factory sony system with a small 8" isn't cutting it, and I have the left-overs sitting in my garage.
