Any Car Audio gurus?
Does anyone on here work or have knowledge about car audio stuff? I installed 2 JL audio 10's in my truck with a Jx500 amp. They worked great for weeks and all of a sudden the amp is in protection mode now. I hadn't used my radio for a few days and when I turned on my radio I noticed they weren't working. Radio and everything still works but no subs (amp in protect mode). Fuses and all wiring looks good. I'm also using a AudioControl LC2i which still shows it has power. I tapped into the left rear speaker wires to power that. Any suggestions?

Did you trace the entire route of the power and ground wires? Perhaps a wire has been rubbing against metal and has finally shorted out.

Have you pulled the speaker wires from the amp and tried to start it up without load?

Check your power at the battery, with a meter, not a test light. Also make sure the fuse at the battery isn't loose, or broken. Extreme cold weather tends to make parts shrink and break poor connections.
The power light on your amps and what not are turned on by the remote from the radio/head unit, Not constant battery power.
also make sure your ground to the amp is solid. You should see damn near zero ohms between a good solid non painted surface and the amps ground. A seat bolt is NOT the best place to ground your amp.
If all the power looks good, disconnect your subs and see what their resistance is. Between leads as well as ground. Depending how they are wired, I'd guess you'll see 2-8 ohms. Should be infinite ohms to ground.

Where did you get you get your amp? New? Sounds like your amp shit the bed if all of your connections are solid.

So... After disconnecting the speaker wires and signal wires, the amp showed it was still in protect mode. Bought a new amp I'm back rocking and rolling. Just thought I would provide an update. Appreciate the help guys.
