Well here's a thought, if you go to the VA and claim PTSD so you can get your 100% disablility so you can get a Goverment check every month. Don't mention " Yea I want to hurt someone when I get "PTSD Flares!". Ok, i'm off my high horse, carry on.

Frankly there are two classes of people that I am very hesitant to maintain even social relationships with and that's psychiatric professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, etc) and police officers. Too easy for either one of them to ruin your life based on an offhanded comment over drinks.

I can't imagine how bad it would suck to need to see a therapist these days (VA especially, but private practice as well) ... you have to risk your personal liberty just to get help.

Funny, I'm sitting in the parking lot at the VA right now waiting for my appointment (which I will walk in for 10 min early and proceed to sit for 40 min waiting on the people in supposed to see). I don't tell them anything regarding mental health or firearm ownership. I'll take my guns over a disability rating, thanks.

I'm lucky enough to not need the VA. I refuse to have anything to do with them and I took Tricare Standard when I retired so I didn't have to deal with a Tricare PCM. I determine my own medical needs and what doctor I see -- and it won't be any doctor who even thinks to ask about firearms unless my hearing degrades.

Good point ... I forget about that as I work for a small company with only about 10 employees and most of us are armed :p

And what due process/hearings were those vets given? None, I'd bet. Simply put on a list.

Reminds me of Napalitano's memo in 2009. Vets frighten them so I can see why they'd use every excuse to disarm and marginalize.

I'm probably missing out on a monthly check by not talking to the VA shrinks when I was out processing and after I got to Denver, but even then I was worried about what plans might be in store for those diagnosed with PTSD.
