Chronicling the build out of Tim's new loading room.

I recently bought a granite countertop business. I moved my cabinet shop from my home to that location, so I'm left with two adjoining rooms that have no purpose. The larger of the two (1,200sqft) will become a play room for the kids and an exercise room. Boring. The smaller one (500 sqft) is in the process of becoming my new loading room Woot. I'll chronicle the progress in pictures here.

This is what it used to look like. Actually, it was normally stuffed full of cabinets waiting to be delivered.

This is the plan. The long row against the wall is for presses. I think I can fit as many as six, though I only own three at the moment. The slightly smaller island will be mounted with vises for AR building. The larger island is just a giant workspace (4' X 8' top). The big pantry cabinets are for gear storage. I'll mount a TV on the wall between the windows. A floor standing parts washer will go on the left end of the loading benches. Probably.

The first step was cleaning out all the crap. Then I had a drywall guy come in and do 8 hours of drywall repair. 20 years of screwing things to the walls really left them looking bad. I painted last week and laid the laminate floor last Saturday.

We built the cabinets in the shop this week and are going to run them over this afternoon.

I hate it when envy comes into my mind....My entire first floor of my house is 715 sq/ft.

Maybe you can find a guy to build you some good counter tops and cabinets for all that space.

<joke>I wouldn't take the first bid though wait til he throws in upgrades on materials and extra reinforcement to hold all the weight of the reloading supplies.<joke>

What are the plans for the wall across from the double doors? The gray on the walls might actually work nicely as a background for a projector. Wouldn't have a great view of the screen while facing the presses, but you probably don't need to be absorbed in guy flick action while loading anyway.

My reloading area is about 25 square feet. You guys with the big rooms must be trying to compensate for something.
