I recently acquired some rare bills that are well taken care of. I have done a lot of research on what to do look for on the currency, where they come from, how to tell if they are real, what certain things mean, and so on. What I cannot find is if there is a way to tell if the money has been circulated or not. It is most likely the bill has been circulated but I am very curious about it still. Any collectors on here that can tell me how find that out or what to look for?
Test it for cocaine residue?

To the best of my knowledge from collecting pennies as a kid unless you can prove it. Its considered circulated. I have some proof sets and a fed res roll of sakajawea dollars that will count as uncirculated
I would think it has to be encased from the mint to be uncirculated. Just like a proof or uncirculated coin would be in a wrapper or display of some sorts.
That's actually one of the reasons why I'm asking, I have a bill that came in a very nice and quality case and merely looking at the bill it appears pristine. However there is no paperwork with it and given the age of the bill I would think it very unlikely to be uncirculated but was just looking for a way to tell
Send it to a grading company. They will grade it and seal it in a protective case. I've done coins this way over the years and have a number of "slabbed" coins as they are called.

Depending upon what your bill is, it might be worth it to have it graded and protected.
