Our little front 'porch' area has cracked cement, not real deep, but a piece of rebar is visible now. Any suggestions/tips how to get this covered up?

Home Depot has some stuff in a tube from Quickcrete. The examples that they have of repairs hanging on the wall look nice. I am not a professional, but if it were me I would try that stuff. You will want to clean all the loose stuff outta the crack with a wire brush and stuff before applying any patch.
Rent jack hammer. Bust it up. Repour.
I'd definitely blow it out vigorously with LOTS of compressed air, borrow or rent a compressor if you have to. Then try one of the products from Home Depot or Lowes made for this. Take several photos with your phone so you can show the guy at the store what your up against.
Or, hire a pro - who may or may not do a better job.
After patching with the sika product you can use an elastomeric top coat concrete to make it look pretty again.
If if it cracks again and it botheres you or creates a drainage issue, you can demo and replace.
If you're going for a repair, I'd probably skip patching, and just do a thin layer of new concrete over the entire surface. Then you won't have to worry about the elastomeric, which would likely just start flaking in a few years anyway.
They'll all be flaking or peeling in a couple of years. Looks like you might have drainage issues or something.
Another option is to use the patio as a base and tile over it.
My driveway was poured in 2006 when my house was built... It is spalling like crazy... probably go the replace instead of cover option.
I'd just get a nice door mat and cover it.
