BOLO--Stolen Fuel Trailer--Brighton

A buddy of mine had a really nice 1000 gallon Jet A/diesel fuel trailer stolen from his house in rural Brighton earlier this afternoon. The trailer is built with diamond plate and it has a electric fuel transfer pump built in to offload fuel. I don't think there are many of these around, so it should stick out like a sore thumb.

The picture I'm attaching is a pic of the actual trailer attached to my buddy's Tundra. The trailer had about 750 gallons of fuel in it when it was stolen.

Yes. Sorry I didn't post an update. It was found abandoned in a field in Westminster or Thornton. Anything that wasn't welded in place had been stripped. The 750 gallons of jet fuel was gone.

My buddy spent a day and about $1500 in parts to get it back in usable condition.

He now stores it inside.

People suck sometimes.

I bet someone used it in their Dodge Charger thinking it was 85 octane.

Just took a quick look... looks like the retail price for Jet A is running between about $3.80 and 5.00 per gallon. As an aside, airlines typically buy it for right around 1/2 the retail price.

We're all hoping the thieves were idiots and tried to run the fuel in their cars and trucks and ruined their engines. I always thought diesel vehicles could burn Jet A with no issues, but according to my friend, it'll seriously screw them up. I keep thinking I need to reasearch this just for my own edification, but I haven't looked into it.

Jet A is similar to kerosene.

Straight up Jet A doesn't have the lubricity in it the Diesel injector pumps need to survive.
