Brush Prairie Pond Advice???

Newer to hunting NE Colorado and I got a reservation for the Brush Prairie Pond this upcoming weekend, which I have not been to yet. Anyone have any input on this area? Deep Muck? Natural Coverage availability? I really appreciate any input!

Never hunted that area, however, I suggest you head up there and check it out before you try to go in during the night. You will always have better luck this way and be prepared. Things can change from season to season. Yes it is a far drive, but you scored a reservation that most will not. With the storm that is going on, should bring some new ducks into the area.

On other properties, I have shown up to what I thought should have water as it was there 3 weeks before, only to realize that the DOW drained it.

I was up in the area last week to check it out. Its difficult to scout as you are only allowed in from 10am-2pm on non hunting days (which I work). I appreciate the input tho!

Its been a while since i was up there but the middle of the ponds we hunted were pretty deep so i hope you have a dog. Ponds we hunted were ponds surrounded by cattails and the drop off made it hard to get decoys out.. could have been a wet year though. We did ok, and had dogs. Definitely new birds down

I haven't been there personally to see it but have talked to groups of guys in the parking lot when scouting around. They said everyone should have chest waders cause they are deep and sticky mud. Bring a dog if you have one to get deeper ones or find dropped birds in the cattails. And one guy recommended tieing the decoys together with a long string or something to make sure you can get them back. Good luck!
