Plumbing "Gurgling"

In the last week or so, we've had our toilets and sinks "gurgling" when our clothes washer is draining. No other time do we get this gurgling.

My first guess is a bad vent on one of the drain pipes. I haven't replaced any yet.

Our kitchen sink doesn't gurgle during this and it's "upstream" from the clothes washer which reinforces my bad vent guess, I think.

Hopefully its not a septic problem - we had it pumped 2 years ago. It's one of the fancy aerator-types and no alarms have gone off so I doubt it's a full tank.

Any other ideas before I start throwing new vents on? (It'll be a PITA in a crawlspace)

For what it is worth; the drain line has an air vent and if that is obstructed (partially) you will get the glug - glug noise. Some sinks might have a different style venting system that would have a 'local' vent built into them.

Right now I just heard that noise from the basement shower drain; and for me that required me to call the rooter folks to re-clear the line. So my fun tomorrow is booked.

I was looking at seeing if I could not get my own hydro-jet system for inside waste lines. A small power washer hyrdro jet attachment might even work on vent stacks on top of my house.

I would confirm you are actually draining into the septic. When we had gurgles, the line was blocked and just backfilling the plumbing.

Yeah washers occasionally make lint clogs. This is more likely than a vent going bad.
