I recently picked up a Suzuki V-Strom DL650. The bike is in great shape but had been sitting a few years. Spent most of that it was sitting on a jack inside. I'd like a mechanic to give it a once over and perform required periodic maintenance. Oil change, check brakes, chain maintenance, etc. I'm in the Littleton area. Any recommendations from the group?
It's a bit of a hike for you, but I recommend TFOG Wheelsports in Golden. Jim the owner is also a member here, he works on a lot of members' bikes. I can't say enough nice things about him and his shop, and I know I"m not the only one.

Thinks I would do myself if it were my bike. Drain and change the oil and filter. Simple and quick. Drain the gas tank and fill with new gas. Charge battery and give it shot. V-stroms are super reliable and it will probably run and run great. Toss some BG44k into the gas tank when you fill it with new gas. I abused the shit out of my 2006 vstrom and that sucker never let me down!
Curious, what year is the one you purchased? I sold my 2006 to a guy who I thought would let it sit and not use it.
It's a 2009. My Dad was the original owner. He took great care of it and rode it almost every day for for 6-7 years, all winter included. Then he blew out his shoulder and just didn't feel comfortable riding with one arm that didn't work well. He emptied the gas, put it on a stand and hoped he'd eventually get full use of his arm again so he could start riding again. That never happened and he was getting ready to move recently so I offered to buy it. He ended up trading it to me for an expensive bottle of scotch. The last registration sticker on the plates were 2016 so that's how long it'd been sitting.
I installed a new battery, added some new gas and it started up immediately. I trailered it home, gave the chain a quick clean and lube and have been tooling around the neighborhood. It runs perfectly, but I want someone who knows better than me to give it once over and do the general maintenance that I don't have time for. Then it's going to be my daily commuter to save me from high diesel prices. I'm more of a cruiser kinda guy but I sold my wide glide a number of years ago. So for the price of a bottle of scotch, beggars can't be choosers, this will do the trick.
