Friend came over with his worksharp to do some scissor sharpening. Which of the 2 W/S would you suggest, the basic worksharp, or ken onion edition? Not interested in others, UNLESS it's an equivalent, performance wise. Thanks

I use one of these, but it is overkill for most. It will turn a piece of 1095 stock into a razor with a little work and a forge. Oregon blademaker.
Ken Onion edition is much different than the normal deal. I'd go Ken Onion
The k/o has more adjustability as to angle than the basic one. On the basic, you're stuck with just a couple angles
I have the basic (a gift). A friend has the k/o. I sharpen my good stuff over there.
I have an Onion and have not used the basic one.
The model I have works excellent on everything from my Swiss Army to a 10" chef knife. I was in the restaurant business for a decade so I know the value of a sharp knife.
I had a broken belt in the kit. I contacted them to buy a replacement and they sent me an entire set, no charge.
My only complaint is the thing is built for right handed operation with no way to reconfigure for lefties. Not a deal breaker since the entire world is set up that way.
I sharpened my neighbor's knives for her and later that evening I had to take her to the emergency room for stitches.
I recommend it for everyone, except maybe old ladies with shaky hands.

Incredible sharpening system that is stupid flexible. 2" penknife? No problem- 10" Bowie? No problem.
Uses single Edge Pro type stones so you don't have to buy pairs of stones like you do a Wicked Edge type system.
You will never overheat an edge like you can do with a KO, belt sander or paper wheel.
I debated the purchase for a long time but I am glad I bought it.

Not familiar with them, but can the ken onion w/s etc do bigger things like mower blades? Or just be happy with an angle grinder on those?
