Integrally suppressed barrels - Mrs bo 10/22 build

Advantages, disadvantages, do's, don'ts.

The idea is to build light as possible with balance point as far to the rear as possible to accommodate her physical limitations. I would very much like to keep it under 3 lbs 12 oz suppressed. As it stands now it is about 3 lb 8 oz unsuppressed with 16" barrel. Am sure if I hang a suppressor on the end of 16" barrel it will be front heavy and too long for her comfort. Of course price becomes an issue at some point.

If you get a decent barrel you are in good shape. Silencerco still makes the 3oz warlock (although I wouldn't use an all aluminum can, you have specific purpose though) I'll quote this next part to save typing:

Almost went this route a number of years ago before common sense kicked in.

1) Big drawback is "IF" your suppressed barrel assembly doesn't shoot worth a crap then you are stuck with it unless you want to spend big $$$ attempting to fix it. (I don't know if replacing the barrel in an integral is ok or if that is creating a new suppressor with the involved paperwork, SOT issues) Much safer bet to just get a threaded barrel from a known good mfgr and a separate can, easier to replace a bad barrel than an integrated barrel/can. 3) Cleaning of an integral might be a real challenge, carbon locked baffles might be something to research first.

4) You'll still get some port noise when the action cycles, my bolt action 22's are quieter then my 10/22 actions with the same suppressor used between them. A couple of my rifles shoot better with a suppressor attached (harmonic tuning).

I've just come across too many examples of ppl not being happy with accuracy from the integrated units to take a chance. My NFA dealer even said he wouldn't carry them anymore because of complaints of mediocre accuracy in both the Gemtech and Huntertown Arms (out of business now, IIRC) versions that he sold. I believe Orkan has a good write up somewhere about his experience with an integral and there are some more over at rimfire central.

IF overall short length is the goal, I'd just SBR the receiver and put a 6" or 10" threaded KIDD + can = 11-16" OAL.

Needing to clean a .22 suppressor is a real thing. If your using chemicals that dissolve lead, your baffles need to be resistant to what ever chemical your using. I'm happy with a Thunderbeast TBAC.
What is the use for this firearm?

The Gemtech Mist for the 10/22 TakeDown is a good option.

The bad part with integrals is that you cant move them around. Pretty much stuck on one gun.

A friend bought a gemtech mp15/22 upper that was integrally suppressed. Still waiting on the stamp

Have you looked at the SBX barrel from Tactical Solutions? That is what I use for the .22 suppressor on a rifle. I could weigh mine, but it is pretty light.

I don't think I'd want integrally suppressed on a rimfire, the cleaning part would be a PITA.
