Competition rigs and tac training gear

Hoping to dedicate alot more time to competition and training this year. Minion X is keeping good grades and behavior and his Lil sis is coming of age to start comps/organized training so mom/dad have committed a few bucks to help papa with outfitting them with gear.

I tend to be a minimalist and want to avoid shortchanging the kids.

Let's discuss kits vs build piece by piece. Equipment that can accommodate growth over next few years and comp gear that can double as tac gear for non competition classes.

I feel like actual competition gun holster are way different than tac gun holsters, since comp rigs are made for speed and minimal. At least the ones that I’ve seen. That being said I do know a couple guys who run safariland 6300 series holsters for comp

After breakfast conversation life gets easier. Both minions want to run gear like papa's. A good belt, appropriate holster and double mag pouch/holder with ability to add singles as needed.

Tac stuff is still probably couple years away as most classes we would attend in near future do not require it.

I use an old style military canteen belt. Add a load bearing harness. Belt padding for comfort. Holster is a M12 with flap. Compass pouch holds cleaning kit. Works great for those wilderness expeditions or ATV excursions. Or riding horses...

I’m on the hunt for something similar, a war belt for my son. So far I haven’t been able to find anything small enough. He’s a 28” waist.

I usually wear a CQB belt everyday. Can be used as a torniquet in an emergency. Rappel loop makes it easy for airlift rescue. Lasts a long time. Variety of holsters fit. 5000 lbs test strength.

Any decent kydex holster will work for most competitions.

For Steel matches just loosen up the tension a little bit and for rough and tumble stuff give the screws a little twist.

I am using these holsters. Flip the lever and it aint coming out. And he does pretty colors if you are into that kind of thing.

Any inner/outer belt combo works fine as long as the outer belt is stiff.
