Mountain Guns
What years have what models been produced by S&W?
I bought my first one, a S&W Model 629 Mountain Gun (.44 Mag) last year and I'm really impressed with it.
I bought that 357PD (.41) Mag earlier this year.
I noticed the S&W Model 657 Mountain Gun (.41 Mag) Mountain Gun was produced back in 1998, and the S&W Model 57 (.41 Mag) appears to be the 2005.
I think the Model 625 (.45 Colt) Mountain Gun was 2004.
I read the model 625 (.45 ACP) Mountain Gun was 1989.
What other models and what years were they done? Was there a .357 Mountain Gun?

I shot a couple hundred .44 Specials through my S&W Model 629 Mountain Gun on Thursday. Had an awful lot of fun.
I've read many reviews of the Model 625 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt and everybody just loves that thing. I've been toying with purchasing one while I can.

Same theme as above. Since I've got this 357PD, and since the Model 57 Mountain Gun is a limited-edition, now discontinued...
I was toying with the idea of purchasing one while I can.

The 625 Mountain Gun (.45 Colt) is $689, and the Model 57 Mountain Gun is $629.
They also had a Model 25 Mountain Gun for $629.
Don't NEED any of them right now. Just hoping I don't look back next year and say "darn, wish I'd bought one when I had the chance".

After a chat with my gunsmith, who happens to also be a park ranger...
I came away with the general impression that I'd be much better-served with a can of pepper-spray for bears and a handgun geared more toward 2-legged predators and feral dogs.
So now I find myself eyeing a Colt Lightweight .38 Super Commander...

I now carry my g20 10mm in the back country, should do fine for predators 2 legged or 4, and its alot lighter than the Desert Eagle i was carrying.
