I would like to know how it would be considered profitable to buy guns at a gun store and then sell them on the streets for half of what you just paid for them. Yes, that part does defy the laws of capitalism. Who can make money selling guns to people on the street after paying full retail price?

Do they envision some Evil Firearm Fairy who goes around spending an inexhaustible bank account on supplying guns to those who should not have them?

The guns usually being traded on the street (rather than through ads on forums like this one or other recognized trading means) are more often than not stolen. Someone with a criminal intent isn't going to be swayed by any legal restrictions.
