.50 cal uppers - accuracy and effective range?

Ok, so I'm decided. As soon as my paychecks allow, it's a Bushmaster A3-M4 to be pulling double duty as a plinking rifle (5.56) and 1500-2000 yard prairie dog mist-maker (.50 BMG) :twisted: I just haven't decided on an upper yet. The ALS claims 1 MOA at 1000 yds - that's what I'm leaning toward right now. But the UltraMag is mag-fed and there's something to commend that as well. Anybody have any experience with .50 cal uppers of any kind? I'm interested in any kind of info on this!

(It's going to be all kinds of fun when I finally have a good reason to start purchasing all that incendiary/ap ammo off of G.B. *laughs with manic hysteria...*)

1 MOA @ 1000 yds is approx. 10". not exactly the greatest thing for long range PD hunting.

Granted, but with a decent long-range scope going for north of a grand, and my relatively new interest in long range shooting, I highly doubt I'll be doing anything outside of about 300-400 yards max for a loooonngg time.

since we're talking about crazy longrange .... anyone make .338 Lapua Mag uppers for ARs?

I have trouble wraping my mind around the possibility of these 50BMG Uppers stretching an AR lower,........I just can't see how it could be good for them....... [poke]

ALS uppers are winning 50BMG benchrest matches.

Not a lot of stress on the lower.
