CCW Training ?
I am planning on applying for my CCW when we get back from vacation and have been looking at some of the available locations for the courses.
In light of the 'announcment' post above I was wondering if anyone has used or knows anything about Profire in Thornton.
I am in Denver, central SW area and this looked fairly close and at least on the surface, a decent choice.
Any input would be appreciated.

I have a friend that took a class from profire... no live fire... short classroom time... the class was valid for both CO and UT

I haven't heard of Profire, but in the "Training" section of this forum a lot of people have been recommending Tactical Skills Institute:

I have no experience with TSI....yet. I've signed up for a Basic Pistol and the Intermediate course in a couple of weeks. I've taken an NRA Basic Pistol course before but have since learned that the original course that I took was not very thorough. I'm not sure if I want to say publicly what institute I took my initial class from (if you want to know, just IM me). But it wasn't Profire, I can tell you that.
But at any rate, I'm excited about the TSI classes as it seems quite a few people here rave about Mr. Torrez (including Jensen Arms in Loveland). I'll let you know how the classes go!

Well I appreciate the info. I called them and talked to Bob, an instructor, for quite some time. Seemed pretty decent so I went ahead and signed up.
As a bonus I will also apply for the Utah non resident CCW as the instructor is certified in both CO and UT which basically adds 1-2 more recip states to the list.

I took this class last weekend. I will say it was very well run, informative and the instructor is a good speaker (3 intructors on hand) so you shouldn't fall asleep at all.
Bigger class then planned from what they said. Close to 30 I believe. I will probably sign up for some other defensive handgun classes they offer too.

I highly recommend Tactical Skills Institute. I took my training there and it was top notch. He runs a hot range and you get plenty of scenarios and trigger time. I am not sure I would trust a CCW class in which there was no live fire. Seem odd to me, but education is education, I guess.
