:P ive been lookin to upgrade my monitors and i am between 4 atm,

right now im leaning towards the benq if i were to order one but im thinkin the 931bf since i can just go pick it up.

Hmmm, ViewSonic are low end. I voted for the one from best buy because it's a good name brand item, it has the best contrast ratio, is priced as well as the others, can be looked at first, and will be easier to return if you're not happy with it. Karl.
The one from best buy is widescreen (16:9) but still just 1280x1024. At least according to best buy's website (the samsung site didn't say). If this is true, you'll have horizontally stretched stuff. Bad JUJU. However, I'd be far more inclined to believe incompetence on bb's part than samsung's, and guess that it's normal (4:3) ratio.
As much as I love newegg, the 931BF does look to be a slightly better monitor at the same price (only major difference is the contrast ratio, but I'm wondering how they get 2000:1).
If I had to chose from the newegg offerings, the BenQ and Samsung are identical on paper and the BenQ is $30 cheaper, so I'd go for that. The Viewsonic doesn't look quite as good (lower brightness and contrast) and is more expensive.
ETA: don't forget to factor in sales tax when figuring your BestBuy price vs neweggs w/shipping (8.45-8.65% depending on JeffCO/adams, You pay ~$293)

But naw my vote goes for viewsonic hands down. My sister works in modelling for making games and thats the brand she uses.
im between the benq and the samsung at best buy atm, the benq is $55 or so cheaper but like karl said it would be harder to return if i had ne problems. the samsung looks like a better monitor and i could just go pick it up i dont know... maybe ill decide in my dreams or somthing
As far as returns go, Newegg's RMA policy is good and their dead pixel policy is stated on the LCD pages pretty clearly. I bought a stick of ram from them about a year and a half ago that was DOA (well, it worked below a certan threshold, but memtest86 showed consistent errors in an address range about halfway through the stick). I worked at comcast at the time and once the RMA was approved (<24h I think) I threw the ram back in the box and payed the mailroom to ship it back to newegg. they sent a new stick the same day they recieved it and that one's still humming to this day.
I can't speak for customer service from newegg since all that I have ever bought from them has always worked. Then again, that's a good thing. :roll: I still prefer to shop brick and mortar when the price is close. I like being able to return things fast when they are 'dead in box' from the store. I do agree that the 2000:1 cotrast ratio seems a little hard to believe in comparison to the others. It could be a misprint. But from what I have no clue. I'd do a little more research on that issue before forked over $$$'s. Karl.
ya thats the only reason i havent ordered one yet if i get some dead pixiels its gonna cost me that much anyway, after i have to ship it back. Im fine ordering anything else from them i built the rest of my comp from parts i ordered from them. Its just i dont no if it would be such a good idea with a monitor. Dead pixels aren't as common or easy to recognize as online reviews would have you think. If you read enough reviews then you'll probably think that a dead pixel means that you're going to have a glaringly obvious hole in your screen or something. The guys that catch them usually use programs that wash their entire screen with one color at a time. Then they scour their monitor with a fine tooth comb. They're almost ecstatic when they find one because then they can go post a negative review or bitch to someone which proves their l33tness or something. That doesn't mean that if you get a dead pixel that it won't be easy to spot but it'll probably resemble a tiny speck of dust. That's why Newegg doesn't accept returns if you do happen to get a monitor with one dead pixel. Honestly, I'd trust the quality of anything that has 123 reviews on Newegg and still retains a 5 star rating. I bought a cheapo Hyvision 17" LCD 6 months ago from Newegg and I love the thing. Save some money and get the Benq.
