Scoring question
A scenario indicates that a target has to be engaged with 2 shots to the body and 1 to the head; and let’s say that this is a Limited Vickers count. A shooter engages this target with 1 shot to the body and 2 to the head.
How would I score this? Does he/she get 0 points down; do they get a -5 for not engaging the target as the scenario specified, or is it something else?

Scoring
I'd call it a miss on the body shot; -5.
Extra shot penalty for the extra head shot? Probably not, maybe just score the lowest of the two.

Like Tim I would call it a -5, assuming the body hit was/is a zero.
One miss on the body and one hit on the head.
Now as far as a procedural for only taking one shot at the body and one too many to the head, thats where it gets really ugly.
Two things can happen. Two procedurals. The shooter was instructed to shoot 2 and 1. He shot 1 and 2. He could get dinged for shooting once at the body and then again for shooting twice at the head.
I would give the shooter the benefit of saying the second shot to the body went high (hitting the head) and his third round hit the head. Only one penalty for two hits in the head. As an SO, I am not watching where the shots are going, I am watching the gun.
Net result, one miss and one procedural.

This happened today while we were practicing and nobody knew how to score it. We all agreed that it had to be a -5 but none of us thought about the procedural penalty. Thank you both for clarifying that!

With as bad as I have been shooting lately (and when I say “lately” I mean for the past 10 years) I need all the practice I can get.
