Will do. I don't ever do any off-roading aside from a few camping trips a year. I was mostly concerned about snow performance as well as I let my girl take my truck if it's really bad out. I feel more comfortable knowing it's a heaver vehicle than her Terrain and it always has more aggressive tires. The Ultraterrains are extreme weather conditions rated (even snowflake stamped [ROFL1]), so I anticipate they will do fairly well. Was able to take advantage of a few rebates as well as the free Yeti Rambler for the purchase of them.

Thanks for the comparison pic, those look very promising, and possibly better in the snow than the duratrac (which are excellent for an AT). Knowing that all AT tires are marginal in the really slick stuff when compared to a dedicated winter tire, I don't typically put snow performance as a top priority, and just drive accordingly. Noise is definitely a concern of mine, as the duratrac kind of disappointed me (after 3 sets). I don't do as much off roading as I used to, and typically limit my excursions to mild to moderate on occasion, and is why highway comfort is a priority for me. I'll be interested in hearing feedback on these tires as folks put some miles on them.

We will see if old Jer bear makes the switch as they are all the talk on the Tacoma forums and are supposedly supposed to be a better hybrid than the duratracs. About the only reviews I found were on the Taco forums and found this picture that shows them very well.

I'm out on the Duratracs man. I was happy with them the first 7-10k miles or so and the last 10k they were awful. Wore like trash and they were miserable. I didn't know just how miserable until I strapped a new pair of meats on the wheels.

I too did loads of research (to include the aforementioned Tacoma forums) before settling on a tire and ended up going with the Falken WildPeaks. So far these things are awesome. They're much better riding than my Duratracs and the only hope is that they wear better. If not, they cost half as much so at least I'm not out much if they suck. I stacked a few discounts/rebates around Independence Day (DT had discounts, Falken had rebates & eBay had 15% or 20% off too) so I got them for under $400 for a set of four. They really can't wear much worse so I'm pretty jazzed so far.

Curious to see how your new tires do over time too since i'm not really brand loyal. I go with whatever reviews the best at the lowest price and if it's not the brand I currently rock I don't lose much sleep over it. The way I see it, Goodyear/Falken/whoever doesn't give a hobo's crap about old Jer bear so why should I care about them?

I've heard nothing but great things about the Falkens, my brother has them on his Wrangler and loves the things. I was seriously considering them, but unfortunately they only come in a load range E for my size, and I prefer C. If I end up going to 285's I may go with the Falkens, as 285's only come in E rating.

I put Falken Wildpeaks in the truck last winter and I have been very happy with snow & wet traction as well as tread wear.

Yeah...I'd heard how awesome Duratracs were, too. Put them on a 2500HD Chevy and hated them every minute. Extremely loud and rough ride. They did well in snow, though. Couldn't wait to get rid of them.

How high do you keep your bucket off the ground so you can cruise at a decent clip?

I've had to snap pictures of two damaged tractors down here so far and both were Mahindras. Everyone loved them before, and loves them even more now since they were able to dig their way out of their houses with them.

Well comparing the two, the duratracs have a very open lug design which contributes to the road noise. The Ultraterrains have a much tighter tread block so I anticipate it would reduce noise quite a bit.

I’ve ran Atturo Mud terrains before and if you want to talk about noise, it sounded like an 18 wheeler with shitty retreads going down the highway at 90mph. I would pass cars on the highway and scare them from the howling they made. People used to hear them on my Bluetooth going 30mph...
