Yes. It was a passable but not what i would call Oscar, or any other award, worthy.

Not even best On Film Bear Attack? Puh-lease.
We went to see The Magnificent Seven yesterday. It was nice to actually watch a classic western. Antoine Fuqua must really love the genre because he really seems to get it. It was really refreshing to see the cast and watch the story and not be bludgeoned with the usual Hollywood crap. This movie could easily have been ruined if the story was used to focus on race or multiculturalism. Just a touch of anti-capitalism, but the basic story from the original involved the farmers vs the gang of criminals being converted to farmers vs the evil mine owner isn't overly done IMO.
Just action and predictable ending. I truly enjoyed the two hours I spent watching this movie.
I came really close to watching the Magnificent Seven with my wife this past Saturday. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
I can't wait to see Magnificent Seven (considering I love the original- Seven Samurai, the 1960 MS is good, too). Michael Brown (of KHOW fame) said when he saw it and Denzel showed up for the first time, he leaned over to his wife and said "The new sheriff is a..." [LOL]
We saw Sully a couple weeks ago. Very well done. Tom Hanks is one of my all time favorite actors, IMHO he's one of the very best. I also can't wait to see Deepwater Horizon. I've heard good things, and Christian Toto says they tone down the enviro-crap and make it more about the heroism.
