I ordered the M17 because it just sounded like a good idea...mil issue handgun and all that. I've never fired or even handled one of the newer generation Sig striker fired guns. Picked this one up yesterday at the BX at Tinker AFB and brought it home. Haven't shot it but fondled it quite a bit. I don't like it. I think it has a lousy trigger, I don't care for the sights and it's almost as if the Sig engineers went out of their way to put that little thumb safety lever in the most uncomfortable place possible. I've already got it up for sale/trade on the forum down here.
The Colt A2 Gov't Carbine on the other hand...
ETA: I mentioned to my kid (the JTAC up in Alaska) that I was getting one. They were just issued the M18 earlier this year. His first words were, "Whatever you do don't get one with the stupid thumb safety."
My M17 has been outstanding. My older son was issued the pistol prior to his deployment March of '21. They were offered specially marked pistols as a deployment pistol when he came home a few months ago from Sig. I shot it and really liked it. I bought one a couple of weeks later. Shot it side by side with my M&P5" with Apex duty/carry kit and greatly preferred the Sig, sold the Smith. Being an old 1911 guy I like the thumb safety. It's accurate, reilable and fits my hand perfectly. Added a white light for nightstand duty.

Found this at an antique store in Florence.
$10, could not pass it up.
Yeah I go antiqueing!
When my wife say I need to drive her!!
I did not know Florence had an antique store!
Cool.
After doing a Google Search, I find that Florence has over a dozen antique stores.
Road Trip!
Impulse buy. Have a 17" Blackstone for the camper... thought a home griddle would be nice as well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fb3c78c619.jpg

The wife's 2005 gx470 was on its last leg. It has over 200k miles, so it was time for a replacement. This cost the same as a used Rav4, so she got another Lexus. Now to take her 470 to the shop to figure out the electrical problem, then I will have a new toy.
