I have run Cat D4, D5 and D8 crawler tractors, some configured as dozers, some as side booms. All pre 1992 equipment. I was never able to catch air, only slam down hard when break over the crest.
D8 felt top heavy to me so I didnt "hot rod" it.
Got yelled at the entire 6 hrs it took to repair broken idler on the D5.
The little D4 couldnt jump either but it could do wheelies though.
