He's been sniffing around the left for awhile. I hear stories about comments, or this or that. I'm actually happy he's coming out and doing this. Now everybody knows where he stands. It's career suicide. like mentioned above, ask the dixie chicks.

Today's country "artists" =
Modern country is nothing more than pop music with a southern drawl. It's actually funny because when every other person with an accent sings in English they lose said accent, the Brits don't sound like they just got done eating tea and crumpets.

It bothers him, Toby Keith says, that when his name is mentioned, it isn't in connection with his nearly 40 top-10 country hits nor his awards as the top songwriter and country artist of the past decade.
It's about what people presume to be his politics.
"People just read the headlines and glance at the story and they don't ever absorb the real thing," Keith said in a recent wide-ranging, 30-minute telephone interview from Sacramento, Calif.
Most of that comes from his 2002 hit, "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)," a song supporting the U.S. troops that had its roots in the patriotism of his late father.
"If you're an average Joe, you never heard about me or that the one-eyed soldier that I write about - my dad - were Democrats and that his father was a Democrat. There's never been a Republican in my family tree. You never heard that. People assume you're a right-wing nut Republican," Keith said. "You just scratch your head and think, ‘You can't fight them all, just let them think what they want to think.' "
The 49-year-old Keith even went so far as to remove himself from the Democratic Party last year and register as an independent.
"My Democratic Party betrayed me, and I got lost somewhere along the way," he said. "The Democratic Party really let me down by not embracing me as a Democrat. Since when did it become anti-American to support the troops? And that's the only Republican bone I had in my body."
Since then, he said, he's been lumped in with conservative electronic media pundits such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
"I've got one song that says our government is shipping a bunch of our volunteers in the military in response to 9/11, and I'm pulling for you and want you to win, so go get ‘em," Keith said. "I don't have a daily program bashing liberals. At the end of the day, you just have to say I said what I believed in and I said what I meant. There's nothing Republican in my family."
"country music" is an oxymoron on par with "Congressional Intelligence"...
He was in the same frat I was in at Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM). His ass needs to be horse whipped for this BS. He has totally lost touch.
Yeah, didn't Faith Hill perform at Obama's inauguration back in '08?
