I just renewed my crc membership and didn't think it was that bad. They mailed me the renewal, I filled it out, wrote a check, mailed it to the address. The orientation was a bit disappointing. Should have had the new members actually go with the instructor to the ranges for a visual explanation of the ranges and how they operate. Oddly we had a lot of useless talk about turkeys and turtles. Was getting frustrating.

This lack of efficient communications for active/renewing membership, combined with lack of any electronic payment mechanisms, was tedious (e.g. have gone mostly paperless, dont use checks for anything, etc.) and so it was easier to just switch over to PSC.
As for getting involved, I honestly just don't have the bandwidth for that. My concerns were expressed on several occasions, given zero consideration, so for now I'll just keep an eye out for when things improve or active involvement becomes a viable option.

Not many. The BOD is working on some things and it is a LOT better than when I first joined. 3 BODs resigned, I have been told why, but not something worth talking about on a forum. I have been able to make good progress in rolling back some of the archaic issues. I just sent some newsletter items to the new BOD member who is doing that, one of which is the March 3rd clearance for East Range holster work and dynamic movement.Quote:

BOD pretty much ignored the whole thing because he was too difficult to deal with. At 300 to 500, they would have lasted for years. Then when they had holes in them, he swapped out with others so all $1K of the new steel was ruined, and is still there. One of the people who resigned the BOD, but is still in change of that range. At some point, I guess you just have to let idiots be themselves and avoid them.
When folks volunteer their time and resources to build things like tables for the ranges, then morons staple targets to them and shoot them up...C'mon man...not cool. So those kinds of things get brought up, as well as trash, and everyone tries to figure out who should take care if it and how. I honestly think that there are a dozen slobs and a dozen range Nazis out there that if we could get them to not renew their membership, all would run smoother.
It is a really good club and the improvements have come, if not slow at times.
It is not so much proficiency as to make sure people understand the parameters and risks and don't put others at risk. The vast majority of the folks I have had to talk to are ones with targets placed so that their rounds are impacting the berm floors at a shallow angle and ricocheting out of the berms.Quote:
