They aren't Christians. And those who are paying attention know that once 2A is done so is Christianity in the US. There has been a mountain written about why Christians who support gun control are heretics. In fact, taking a pastor's temperature on gun control is good test for integrity.

Obviously I'm not saying this isn't a problem or should be ignored. Direct initiative gun control is one of the weakest ways to implement because people won't support it. Another reason I think there should be more state level initiatives and less professional lawmaking. Look at all the major infringements and you see what I mean.

Many, many years ago in CA there were initiatives placed on the ballot twice to ban handguns. The first vote was two to one against it, the second time was nearly three to one against. They backed away form it after that and the commies went underground and have been biting away ever since.

At least as many students who are "crying out" for something to be done, are those that support the 2nd and wouldn't want anything done to infringe on it. He doesn't speak for my kids, my town or my state for that matter.

It is interesting to see the people who play fast and lose with scripture get further and further away from it. When they say "we're just putting a box around this heretical belief and that's it" don't believe them. Kind of like those liberal interpretations of the Constitution...

On such issues like gun control, I approach it the way the Pro Life movement has approached things. I don't want to get into a game of identity politics but rather if the group itself has Biblical credibility and doesn't violate the most basic of principles -- it's not an issue which is primary to the Faith so therefore I must approach it as it is, be it secondary or tertiary. Since their moral compass is spinning like a bottle in a circle of sailors about to cross the equator, I could care less that they are Lutheran or even if they were Catholic. They're something far worse: indifferent to morality as traditionally held. I cannot work with that. I'm more apt to hang out with a right wing Buddhist than some left winger who believes the Jesus Christ Superstar claptrap.

That's a fair approach! I was mostly joking with you. :)

I believe the basic principal does have a Christian foundation if not mandate. Not saying everyone has to be Christian to believe in that principal.

The principle is the right to self-defense, which is natural law. Even palm frond wearing pagans understand such concepts. It can be affirmed with a Christian understanding, and a proper understanding of passages like Romans 13 can clarify issues, but I would not say it's a revealed element or article of Faith.

The United States represents about 7% of the total land mass of earth. I say if you don’t like the way things are here then instead of trying to change it you should just check out the other 93% until you find some place you’re happy.
