Good call. I went back and hit the area with a stud finder and then pulled it out.
No idea why they did that. It had a couple coats of paint on it so it may have been there a long time.
Maybe used it to hang their instruction manuals for the washer and dryer.

The previous owner just wanted to how much of a fucktrad you were, and see how long you would leave it up…….
The plumber that put in the water heater had to have somewhere to hang his light so he wouldn’t keep tripping over it.
Pounded a screwdriver into the wall, broke the handle and said Fuggit when they were done.
I wonder if it was set into a valve or something behind the wall.
