My JeffCo assessment went down. Doesn't make up for the insane increase over the last few years, but it's something.

Arapahoe went down.
Mine (Arapahoe) went up 1 percent.
Actually it's 0.9686793671294802 percent, but who's counting?
Adams county near 144th and Colorado blvd is -3.625% from last year. It’s certainly more in line with the reality of what I could sell my home for, versus what they assessed last year.
House in Castle Rock down.
My insurance, however, is now insane!
Ours also went down ~5.4% in Larimer County.
I'm sure most people know already but you have a narrow window each time your assessment arrives to dispute the value. Pull up a few comps with a lower price and submit them with a brief explanation challenging the assessment of your home if you feel it's too high. This surprisingly applies more whenever values go down because assessors bank on the fact that most people will just be happy to see the prices going down and don't realize that they may not be pacing the actual market enough to reflect the true dip in values. They tend to be a little less aggressive as they rise because people are already worked up enough to dispute. Just food for thought as the deadline (June 9th) to protest approaches. If you have a real estate agent that you use they are able to also act on your behalf for this and most do so free-of-charge.
Our home owner's insurance premiums have more than tripled in the last three years. They doubled the first time a few years ago and then recently doubled again. Time to do some shopping and compare rates.
I'm not even going to go back to 20 years ago when we built this place to check premiums because that would be too painful. Kind of expected over a longer period of time, really. 10% here, 20% there. This spike just in the last three years though where it more than doubled from one year to the next and then more than doubled again only a couple years later is on another level. That's more than inflation and claims IMHO. But hey, it's the motivation we needed to shop around again. Every time we put in the effort to compare insurance it always works out in our favor in a pretty big way. I suppose I should be thankful they didn't slowly increase the heat of the pot water we're in and decided to just throw us in a pot that was already at a rolling boil because it mos def caused the sense of urgency to follow suit.
Ours in Westminster went up again this year. To a price that no house anywhere close has sold for!!!! I did the online dispute form last week. I even used their provided map that shows what homes have sold for in the area and any home similar to ours sold for at least $85g less than what ours is currently valued at. I am sure they are going to tell me to stick it up my ass, but at least I tried. Just one more motivator to get out of here.
