A new law to keep it from happening AGAIN.
ROFLMAO....what a JOKE.
Do you REALLY think a new law is going to prevent this in the future?
What about the laws that were broke, doing it THIS time.
Ahhhhh, never mind the OLD laws, we have "other" NEW ones.
I am sure that most of you have heard that on October 17, 2006 Bush signed the "Military Commissions Act" into law. It was quite controversial, in that it allowed the US government to hold (and torture?) terrorists. Suspending habeas corpus, no questions, NO rights. Defenders of this act maintain that it only applies to “foreign” terrorists, and can’t be used against the citizens of this country. For those defenders, all I can say is, read the fine print.
Nevertheless, this isn’t about the Military Commissions Act. This concerns the “John Warner National Defense Authorization Act” that was signed on the very same day. Anyone hear anything in the news about this one?
A little history.
Bush tried to suspend the Posse Comitatus Act (PCA) of 1878, sighting fighting terrorism as the reason. (For those that don’t know. This is the Act that keeps American troops from being used against it’s citizens, except under certain conditions) Failing to garner support for this excuse, he CHANGED his excuse for wanting to suspend the PCA, to the possibility of a pandemic outbreak of some kind. AGAIN failing to garner enough support to suspend the PCA, the “John Warner National Defense Authorization Act” was written and quickly passed into law.
With one stroke of his pen, this grants the president the power to throw aside the PCA, as well as The Insurrection Act. The two Acts protecting “us” from “them, militarily.” Allowing the president to station US MILITARY troops ANYWHERE in the United States, and take control of state-based National Guard units WITHOUT THE CONSENT of the governor or local authorities.
In one day, with two NEW bills, he seizes enough power to name “anyone” a terrorist, take them away, never to be heard from again, AND the power to use US troops against it’s citizens, ANYWHERE.
Is anyone a history buff. What has historically followed the seizing of this type of power?
I‘ll repeat myself, a new law to keep Katrina from happening AGAIN???
ROFLMAO…What a JOKE.

At this point they're just using the second amendment to placate us. We can keep sitting around saying "Well they can do all of that other shit but at least they can't take our guns!" They'll come for our guns soon enough. When they do I don't think that many people will stand up to them.

I agree. As much as gun owners will proclaim "Molon Labe" to each other and thump their chests, very few will have the balls to make it happen.
And if it comes down to that, Molon Labe will have to come true or we're all fucked.
