Turns out its the transfer case or something , looks like an alien chewed it's way out . Thinking 1200-2200 fix ,for now I have to load up the wife's mini van and get my sorry butt to Denver

what kind of jeep? if you spend 1200 to replace a $200 jeep transfer case you need a new mechanic. you can find a good used one all day long for $200 or less. After the linkage and drive shaft it is a 6 bolt repair. you can do it yourself in 2 hours even if you have never done one.

if you cant do it yourself I am sure there is someone (including me) here on the board that would be happy to hang a new transfer case in exchange for some ammo or something

it would be hard to get it all the way to my garage in Bailey, but there must be someone here closer that could help.

Turns out the transfer case is ripped in half , tranny housing is cracked from stem to stern and the motor is leaking from multiple places in the front . Not to mention shocks and springs are toast , it's been leaking steering fluid and when I turn the wheel it goes CLANK CLANK CLANK . Also I know the struts have been broken for almost a year now ..... But I have put 1000 miles a week on her for over three years so I guess it's just time for the old girl to be turned into soda cans . Oh yeah if anybody wants to buy a broken jeep grand cherokee I'm sellin one cheap
