I looked at the final text. It looks like it has been amended with some good news.
SECTION 3. Act subject to petition - effective date -
applicability. (1) This act takes effect October 1, 2023; except that, if a
referendum petition is filed pursuant to section 1 (3) of article V of the
state constitution against this act or an item, section, or part of this act
within the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general
assembly, then the act, item, section, or part will not take effect unless
approved by the people at the general election to be held in November
2024 and, in such case, will take effect on the date of the official
declaration of the vote thereon by the governor.
Which means we have 90 days to file a petition to put it to the voters.
Judging by the previous several elections, the dopey masses will likely vote it into law. However, that is the way it should be. Allow the voters to decide instead of the legislature ramming it down our throats.
