I just sent directions to everyone who wanted to come. Let me know if you have any questions.
Only a week away all, it's time to build some plinkers :D
On the directions, It should be Briargate, not Research exit on I-25

I have been trying to take the gas piston out of the bolt carrier, and put a US one in it so it counts towards the us compliance parts, But that sucker wont budge, i've tried putting rubber bands on it to give it traction and unscrew it but its almost as if it is fused with the bolt carrier.... any tips on removing it?
There's a pin holding the piston in, the pin must be tapped or drilled out. I've read it can be a PITA. Look very closely at the front of the bolt carrier and you'll see it.
yep i see the pin.... will we be able to fix it at the build this weekend?
And how will the new one be held in place?
If we can tap the old pin out, we can reuse it, otherwise you'll need a new one. There posts that 16d finishing nails or rivets work great. Lowes, Ace or Home Depot will have what we need. Either way, we should be able to take care of it this Sat.
Just one of many questions I have :)
Are the pistons pinned to keep some movement for the piston?
Are they done more for FA versions?
Or should all pistons be pinned?
OK three questions, :P
From what I've read, most pistons are pinned, the rest are welded. Without being pinned in, they'll unscrew with use, bad things happen then. We shouldn't have any problems finding a new pin for the gas pistons if we have to drill them out.
Ummm... directions??? Karl.
TY. Karl.
BTW I will bring 2 observers so you can add that to the head count.
My dad and my best freind.... they will be watching and will probobly be able to help in building
