Took a walk up the canyon this morning and encountered mama moose with her two yearling calves. She was acting protective so I decided not to go any farther.

Great photos! Mama Moose does look like she means business! :D

Yea, this time she let me know I'd be given no quarter. I've encountered her several times and she's usually tolerant of a respectful approach. I believe she's the same cow I've shown on earlier pages in this thread. But she and the calves have been using a trail frequented by skiers and mountain bikers and I suspect people and their dogs have made her more wary.
I spotted this guy hunting voles in a meadow this afternoon. A pretty healthy looking bobcat.

The neighbors stopped by this morning to say howdy. Looking for free beer, no doubt. Those neighbors!

This afternoon I went up to a lake a mile from the house and was delighted to watch 3 River Otters swimming, sunning, running and sliding on the snow. What fun!
The pic of the one swimming is from about 40 yards, and the two on the snow are about 350 yards away.
