There have only been about 5 different composers who came up with something different:

JS Bach
WA Mozart
LV Beethoven
C Debussy
A Schoenberg
John Cage

i think I would add Tchaikovsky to that list. Maybe not as fresh as Mozart, but he certainly was influential.

and maybe Miley Cyrus. She certainly came up with something different... [facepalm]

Tchaikovsky could write the crap out of a melody, but his developmental sections go on and on and on and on and on and on and on......

The first movement of his violin concerto is one of my favorite pieces to play.

such a simple and moving melody........ruined by extensive laddering.
