Wolf? In the city? Where?
Guess someone did not dig fast enough: http://www.postindependent.com/news/...ight-be-a-wolf
Let me get this straight... Professionals were unable to determine if the animal was a wolf upon close inspection but a hunter may be charged for believing it was a coyote and shooting it from who knows how far way. Makes perfect sense to me. Maybe the hunter should of had it DNA tested before shooting it [emoji85]
That was my first thought as well. However, I read a few articles and posts on Facebook about it and they are certain it is not a coyote. They are running DNA in order to see if it is a wolf or wolf hybrid. There is also a picture of it, clearly not a coyote.

I saw a "lost" poster the other day. His name is Charlie and he's half shepherd half lab. Good around children and likes chickens.
Whatever it is hopefully he doesn't get charged. Would have been better to either skin it out and call it a coyote or leave it lay if they charge him. Their decision will be a good message to coyote hunters if they encounter such a situation
That wolf looks badass! 90 lbs? Watch out!
I've got two ranchers in eastern Colo. that told me that they have seen a wolf in recent years. One rancher actually saw the "wolf" on two different occasions and the other rancher got a real up close look at the one he saw. From their descriptions to me, if it were truly a wolf that they saw, it was not the same wolf.
I know it's possible, but I pretty much in the back of my head doubt it. But then last winter while calling coyotes on the one ranch, I was using vocals, and I got a vocal response that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Wolf sounding for sure, but I never got to see it. So then I started thinking the old rancher wasn't off his rocker after all.
Remember, just two years ago a wolf was killed in KS. as well. So they do wander through these parts.
