There is also a school of thought that the rate of expansion/contraction dependent upon temperature necessitates the use of like materials when clamping rings to a base to avoid any potential for POI change. Granted the scope tube is going to be Aluminum, but should be less affected by temperature swings. Do I have any empirical evidence to support the claims? No, but I read it on the intarwebz so it must be true.
I never said it wasn't. In fact I love the QD LT-104 mount and have one on my Sig 716Patrol hosting a SWFA scope. So much so that I'm looking for another.
That said, I personally wouldn't mount one on a bolt gun. Perhaps the QD LT-158 that's a tad lower.
