Mornin' Hos!!
Might have time to head to the range to zero my scope/rifle today, pretty excited! Wish I had time to test some reloads, but I'll be lucky if I can even get to the range at all.
Belly, I'd be interested in hearing how you develop a load for a precision rifle. Do you do a ladder test (1 round of each charge at 300+ yards, aiming at same spot and look for nodes, then repeat with smaller powder increments adding 100yds) or do you just fire over a chronograph looking for single digit SD's?
eta: I only ask because I either need to buy a chronograph (looking at Competition Electronics ProChrono) or figure out the distance to shoot for a real ladder test. I planned on shooting my test loads through a chrono. If the first 2 shots of each load had velocity variation greater than 15fps, I'd move to the next load (because that indicates a SD greater than 10). If they were under 15fps, I'd shoot the remaining 4 shots for a 5 shot group and record the data. I'm leaning away from purchasing a chrono due to the added expense, but only have access to 300yds easily, if I want to head to the 1000yd range, I'd first have to find out where it is, and then I'd only be able to shoot there once every other week at most.
