any network admins here??

why is my router choking my system down to 10mb transfer rate? I plug in hard line and can pull a solid 15 transfer, but over wifi/wireless I get choked to 10. I have changed channels, upgraded firmware, exhausted my abilities. Thoughts on what I need to to check?
