We haven't had bad hail here though, they were working fine earlier in the day. Think that could have been?

If you've got inadequate roof ventilation, you could have lots of blisters that are popping out granules, or even just baking them loose. Then all it takes a nice, heavy rain to wash them all into the drain. No trees around to clog stuff up?
One tree in the neighbors yard... I constantly clean them out. I don't think there is inadequate ventilation.

I often see what looks like dried and cracked mud in people's gutters. I don't know what it comes from.
That's the weird part... Gutters are essentially clean.. Few twigs here and there and some light little stones from the shingles. But nothing like what came out of these gutters. I thought maybe a bird had died or something in it but couldn't find any remnants. No odor.

I wish I could print out that picture to give to roof contractors on some claims.
"Oh that's not hail huh, then what did that?!"
"Well..."
