One last thing...couldn't help it.
I curse the guy that decided to put a porch light right next to the damn door. Him and everyone else that made it "code" or whatever. I get the security aspect, but it would light up just fine 10 feet away from the door too, and it wouldn't invite all the damn BUGS in every damn time you open your door at nighttime.
Fuck that guy.....he can eat a bag of dicks.
Okay, now I'll say G'nite...have a great Tuesday.

I wonder if that is actually code or not; I'd be interested to know as I think you have a great point. I've decided that all outdoor lights should be mounted in the soffit so they light the house, but don't blind you from the street.
As long as the wiring and outlets are outdoor rated i doubt there's any specific code that says the outdoor light Must Be Mounted to the House. Up here it's 50/50Quote:

The expense of rewiring fixtures and fixing holes in your house isn't worth the hassle, which is why they shouldn't do that in the first place.
