I froze the head and cape so I can get it mounted. All the ticks from the cape migrated to the tips of the ears.

Where did you go hunting again? It was out of state right? As I'm new to all of this, I'm still trying to wrap my head around preserving meat until you get it to the processor and stuff. I don't think I'd be able to freeze a head even if I had the convenience of being at home. How did you get that accomplished?
Southeast Kansas, unit 11. My brothers friend is a very serious trapper/hunter/fisherman/farmer and has multiple 20 cubic foot freezers. We caped it out and put it in there. My brother is taking it to the taxidermist tomorrow evening. Should be ready for pick up in April/may.
