I think the previous owners must have updated the electrical at some point. When the inspector tests that the outlets have a ground, they'll say, "Yep, must have."

I'm going to look into this before I do anything. If it's over my head, I'll end up paying someone else. If I can pull new romex one outlet at a time, I'll do that, even if it takes me six months.
The goal is to have grounded outlets and ferret out any bad wiring. If I screw something up, I'll stop and get it fixed. I've got plenty of offers to contact guys that know what they're doing, in addition to my own contacts.
Ultimately I want better than before. I know what I can and can't do, so if I can't do it, I'll pay someone who can.
