Installed a new tankless water heater for a customer today. Awesome technology.
Does it cost more, less, or negligible to run tankless compared to a tank?
Overall operating costs will be pretty much the same. However when they build some of these houses they only build with high efficiency tanked direct vent water heaters. The cost is usually around 2200-2500 depending on the install. Those tanks will probably last 7-10 years. A tankless is roughly $4200 and will last for 20 with proper maintenance and will save space.

This is one I installed a couple months ago. Ignore all the bullshit sloppy work that doesn't pertain to the water heater.
Test post #2
I'd like to go tankless just to clear up space and clutter, and I know who I'll call if I ever go that route.
I WAS a slumlord. We sold the place after only a year. Neighborhood was gong to crap if you remember.
Aiming to lose over 60lb this year and drop sub 200. 3 weeks in and so far so good, but hey the first 25lb are easy.
Hate counting the calories of every item I eat, not to mention eating approx 1600cal a day sucks. At least 21 more weeks of this.
Cutting carbs to a minimum will really help. Good luck!
You can actually install one outside of you wanted. Those require plugged heat tape during the winter months. Very involved install.
