Ouch.
I have what one would normally consider a smart mortgage company (Chase) and they can't seem to get the escrow dialed in each and every year.
I have considered contacting them to see if they would be willing to decouple the escrow. I have great credit, no PMI on a 15 year (refi) mortgage with 10 years remaining, and only owe about 35-40% of the home value depending upon who's numbers you use. I guess anyone can attempt to project taxes and insurance premium changes and do just as well.
Last year they over projected and cut me a check for $600. I paid significantly more than what the mortgage payment actually was, and last year I felt like that screwed them up and was part of the reason of the big overage. This year, in addition to eliminating my PMI after the escrow amount was set, and paying almost double the mortgage payment, I thought we were going to get another big overage check, but I guess not.
Working nites this week....get to start it off with a lazy Monday
I don't want to hear it... bought at 180.. last appraisal was 295.. house up the street that is smaller and not nearly as nice just sold for 325.. Been in it 5 years now.
I did have to call the county two years in when I noticed they had it as 3 bathrooms... drive by assessment was WAAAAYYY off..
They haven't come close to getting taxes correct.. I just write the check.. I like the payment staying consistent
Today is not a good day to talk taxes.
I finally got my wife's W-2 today. Long ugly story. Bad enough my estimate and partial tax paid e-filed with my extension in April - based on last year - was way off, but my e-file was rejected so now it appears someone has defrauded the IRS on my behalf and I get to straighten the fookin mess out now. Interesting fact: 23 years ago today was the wrap up of the Battle of Mogadishu, code name Gothic Serpent which resulted in 18 US KIA and 73 wounded. As well as two Medal of Honor recipients, Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart.
