Sorry, I've never worked with any real wood that wasn't a 2"x4". Buffalobo, JohnnyEgo, Tim K, or Sideshow Bob maybe are your guys for that.
I don't see why you wouldn't just go 1/4" though, unless you mean to build cedar shelves.

Yeah, it's for shelving. 1/2 inch stuff sags over time even with kinda decent support. Have a couple of long runs too.
Probably cheaper to use some other material, then use a thinner veneer of the cedar, BUT I've never built shelves before and don't know if that would be ugly or not, or rigid enough.
Cedar is a product that moths and mites and stuff, hate. And it kinda smells good. I want to rip everything out, panel the walls with it, and build some brick shithouse shelving.
The paneling only needs to be standard...1/8" or whatever it is usually is. Maybe the stuff is too pricey to do shelves in, I don't know???
Eh, just asking questions.
Unfortunately I don't know either. If you want to feel like you're saving money though, this is for you! https://denver.craigslist.org/zip/d/...800612452.html
It looks like something a pedophile who cruises the Denver Zoo would have in the trunk of his car.
Or her car. Criminals are equal these days.
You do seem to have a better pulse on CL than anyone else I know though, so I know who to ask to find creepy stuff cheap. Not all skills are admirable, but they can be useful.
:)
I think I'm out of material for tonight. PEACE OUT!
